My day off.

Today is my day off from school. My mother was kind enough to let me stay home today, because even though the May long weekend is coming up, I don't actually have Friday to myself. I am going camping, and because the nearest campground is 4 hours away, I have to leave at about 9:30am. So, I made this blog early today, so I could get it out of the way, and I wouldn't have to worry about anything for the rest of today.
Earlier this week, a man was killed in a city not to far from where I live. The story goes like this: A man (I'll call him Frank) was trying to sell his truck. Two guys showed up to his house, and wanted to take the truck for a test drive before they bought it. Frank agreed, and him and the two men got into the truck and drove off. They recently found Frank's body somewhere outside of the city he lived in. So, these two men killed another human being over a truck. A FREAKING TRUCK.
Now, This isn't the only thing that pissed me off about this story. The other thing being, wannabe sleuths who think they can solve the crime and get a bunch of money or something like that. Yesterday, when I found out about this story, my mom was reading out some of the comments of a Facebook status that she posted sending her condolences to Frank's family. Some of them were nice, and good comments. Others, however, were not. Some of the comments were things along the lines of "Well, if the two guys arrived to the guy's (Frank) house on foot, someone must of dropped them off, so obviously there is third guy involved!" and stuff like that. HAVE YOU NEVER HEARD OF PUBLIC TRANSIT? What pisses me off is that sometimes, us humans (me included) think that they know absolutely everything, and don't give up on it when they are proved wrong. One of the only things I have learned from my math teacher at school, is to take your ego off of the table when it comes to topics like this, because there are plenty of people who know more than you about it, so shut up, and quit over thinking things. What if it was just over a truck? Jeez...

  1. It's interesting how incidents like this bring out the best and the worst in people.
I try to take the high road and tell myself that it isn't my problem. I feel for the family and put my faith in law enforcement, who clearly know more of the details than we do.
I certainly don't let myself get upset over know-it-alls. They are people too, and entitled to their opinion. (thank heaven for free speech)
Have fun on your camping trip! Look forward to reading more when you return!

    1. I understand where you are coming from but it just bugged me that some people were worrying more about solving the crime than what the family was feeling. Less of "Oh, I feel so sorry for this poor man and his family" and more of "MAYBE IF S SOLVE THIS CRIME I'LL GET SOME MONEY!" It was just off-putting.
